Report:on The Guest lecture by K.Grace Evangeline .

 Guest Lecture Report:

Date: 12th July 2025

Speaker: Dr. G. Mohana Charyulu

Designation: Professor, Department of English, Vignan University, Guntur

Topic: Translating Indian Languages: Challenges and Contexts

A guest lecture was given by Dr. G. Mohana Charyulu. He shared valuable ideas about the difficulties faced when translating Indian languages, especially into global languages like English.

Dr. Charyulu started by talking about India’s rich variety of languages, which makes translation important but also challenging. He explained how caste, religion, and gender affect both the original and translated texts, and how these social issues must be understood during translation.

He also spoke about language and cultural difficulties, such as translating idioms, stories with cultural meanings, and words that don’t have exact matches in other languages. He said that translation is not just about words but about connecting different cultures. It needs care, creativity, and understanding of the reader’s background.

Dr. Charyulu also talked about the moral duty of translators to stay true to the original meaning while making the text easy to understand for new readers. He encouraged students and researchers to do translation work with both knowledge and empathy.

The lecture ended with a lively Q&A session where students asked questions and shared thoughts.
