Report on Orientation Programme on Linguaskills
The Department of English, organized an Orientation Programme on Linguaskills on 30th August 2025 in the College Auditorium. The session was scheduled from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM.
The resource person for the programme was Dr. E. S. Sharmila Sigamany, CEM & Associate Professor, Department of English, KLEF Deemed to be University, Vaddeswaram.
The objectives of the programme were to enhance students’ communication skills in English and to equip them with competence for academic excellence, professional success, and global interaction. The expected outcomes included improved fluency, confidence in spoken and written English, and the ability to apply language skills in professional contexts.
As the Master of Ceremonies (MC) for the event, I had the privilege of welcoming the gathering and smoothly guiding the programme. The session began with a warm introduction of the resource person, followed by her insightful talk. Dr. Sharmila Sigamany conducted the session in an interactive and engaging manner, encouraging students to participate actively. She highlighted the importance of effective communication skills in today’s competitive world and provided practical strategies to improve fluency, accuracy, and confidence in English usage.
The students were deeply involved throughout the programme, responding enthusiastically to the activities and discussions. The session successfully created an open environment where students could share their thoughts, ask questions, and clarify doubts.
In conclusion, the Orientation Programme on Linguaskills was highly beneficial and motivating. It not only enhanced our understanding of the role of communication skills in academic and professional success but also inspired us to practice English with greater confidence.
